The always essential bib

Bibs are very useful and an essential garment for babies. Some parents still think that a baby should start using a bib with the start of solid food intake, although that is not entirely true. A bib can be used from the baby’s birth to catch possible baby sick and dribble until a later stage to prevent stains on baby clothes.

1. Common bib: it’s a medium size and the great advantage over other types of bib is that there are an infinite number of materials (fabric, plastic, cloth towel..) colours and prices. It’s rounded and covers most of the torso of the baby. In Apple Juice, we have this type of bib in two sizes, 0 to 6 months and 6 months to 2 years, in funny animal designs. On the back they have plusher fabric.

2. Bib with pocket: this type of bib is mainly for catching food. They have a pocket that collects baby food. They can be a little bit uncomfortable due to the material that they are usually made from plastic but because of that, they are very easy to clean and protect baby clothes, more so than other bibs. The model below is made by the US household articles specialist, Oxo. It has recently launched a very practical and thoughtful childcare line. An Example of this are its roller bibs made of nylon at the top and at the bottom a silicone material, as well as the pocket.

3. Bandana: it’s a triangular shaped bib and is higher than normal bibs. It looks like a handkerchief when it’s placed on the baby’s neck. Its main use is to absorb dribble when the baby is in its teething stage. Bandana is a relatively new product, and its use is not widespread. There aren’t so many varieties on the market compared to the common bib. Apple Juice has two different kinds of bandana. Some include pacifier clips and others not. The pacifier clip is a must for those babies who use pacifiers.

4. Giant Bib with or without sleeves: XXL bib covers almost all the baby. Not only can they be used for eating but also when making crafts with the little ones. They are usually made of plastic for easy cleaning and some may even have sleeves for almost complete protection. A disadvantage compared to other models may be the price, a little bit higher than the other models. The model below is the Canadian brand Kushies. Being made of plastic (free of BPA, phthalates and PVC ) they are an insurance against stains and are not rigid at all …
